Haus Bellevue & Family Verdoorn: “Our home in the Alps”

We are the Verdoorn family: Glenn (33), Jackie (31), and Scott (3). As of May 2026, we are proud to call ourselves the owners of Haus Bellevue in St. Michael im Lungau—and we truly couldn’t be prouder!

Our search for a home in Austria began in early 2026. During a winter sports holiday, we first started seriously talking about our dream of emigrating. If we were going to do it, it would definitely be Austria. From that moment on, we began looking at the area differently: could we really live here? Later that year, more holidays followed, and our goal became clearer—finding a place of our own!

We had grown tired of being part of the Dutch rat race. A burnout (Jackie) certainly intensified that feeling. Together, we realized we had everything we needed to be happy: a wonderful and healthy family, a beautiful home, loving friends and family around us, good jobs, and the means to enjoy life. And yet, we weren’t truly happy and kept wondering: is this really it?

Now our dreams are becoming reality!
